FLOWERS
There’s something different about flowers that are grown with the seasons instead of forced to look the same year-round. They feel fuller, more alive, more connected to a particular moment in summer. That’s the kind of flowers we love growing.
From July through late September, our flower fields are filled with dahlias, cosmos, zinnias, strawflowers, sunflowers, gomphrena, feverfew, amaranth, and a rotating cast of other varieties that thrive in the second half of summer. We especially love the rich colours that arrive later in the season. Warm oranges, golden yellows, soft apricots, deep reds, and all the late-summer tones that somehow make a table, kitchen, or bouquet feel instantly warmer.
Our flowers are grown with both beauty and practicality in mind. We focus heavily on varieties that hold well in the vase, continue opening after harvest, and stay enjoyable for more than a fleeting moment. The goal is flowers that don’t just look good walking out of the farm stand, but still look beautiful days later sitting on your counter.
Dahlias have become a particular obsession around here, and each season we continue expanding our collection while experimenting with dahlia breeding and new varieties. Part of the fun is discovering flowers with unusual colours, textures, shapes, and personalities that you simply don’t see very often in grocery store bouquets.
Big blowsy dahlias. Airy cosmos dancing around in the wind. Strawflowers that dry beautifully. Sunflowers that actually smell like summer. Bouquets with movement, texture, and colours that belong to August and September on Vancouver Island.
Whether you’re picking up a bunch for your kitchen table, a dinner with friends, or just because the flowers made you happy while walking by, we think flowers should feel special without feeling precious. Beautiful, seasonal, generous, and meant to be enjoyed.
